In February 2006, Christ Church, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, set up a Quonset hut on its property overlooking the Gulf of Mexico to serve as its worship space. The bell tower, which stood next to the church building, is all that Katrina left. Christ Church, founded in 1889, has been devastated by hurricanes in the past. On August 17, 1969 Hurricane Camille demolished the church.
