The purpose of the National Altar Guild Association is to unite all altar guilds, encouraging and deepening the spiritual life of all members so that worship to Almighty God may be offered in the beauty of holiness. It also represents altar guild ministry at all levels (national, provincial, diocesan, parish, etc.) to the Presiding Bishop and interpret his wishes regarding altar guild functions and activities to our members. NGAG assists in the continuing organization of diocesan and provincial altar guilds; provides information, resources, and communication; and supports the national church in meeting the ecclesiastical and mission needs related to altar guild ministry. Ongoing projects include a quarterly newsletter, making stoles for chaplains who serve under the Bishop of the Armed Forces, and maintaining a library, housed at Nashotah House. Their triennial meeting is held during General Convention where they arrange for a display of ecclesiastical art.
