Saturday, June 10: Grow in Peace

By: Micah Edwards-Acton
(mommy says...) Micah, what is peace?
"no war, no weapons, no criminals, helping others, treating others kindly, making more friends..."

"peace dude" (he says and puts up his pointer and middle finger in the shape of a "v")..."

"I guess peace in the world means no war.... every state would be a friend"

"i guess peace in the family means nobody turns into a criminal... and nobody dies because of something a criminal did to them.... like getting shot.

"peace in society means there are good laws"

(mommy says).......so, what is a symbol for peace?
"I think a snowflake because it looks different to everyone.... for some peace is peace&quiet, for someone else it's weird&wild, for some it's boring&dull, and for others it's fast&ferious... like every snowflake is different"

(mommy says)..... So what is GROWING in PEACE?
"growing in peace means being able to believe in your own religion... being able to control your own money... not letting someone pull you into their religion... i mean you may WANT to go into that religion... thats okay... but if you don't, other people should not be able to decide for you or persecute you. i remember that's why the pilgrims came to america because they wanted to keep believing their religion. mrs smith [his teacher] heard a guy was killed because he didn't believe a certain religion. growing in peace would mean that that would never happen again."

(after our 3rd or 4th session of talking about this) micah says "are we done with this yet?"

(mommy says)"yeah micah we're done... i'm gonna go send this now"

(micah rolled over in bed and said to his 4 year old brother cyprian) "cj, i hope you and i grow in peace"
